Most Christians I know, and those who are not particularly religious and care deeply about social justice and moral behavior, have been deeply dismayed about Donald Trump’s election as the next President of the United States. It is not simply a matter of the candidate many preferred not winning. That has happened before, and it will likely happen again (as is the nature of politics). No, it is different this time. From talking to people, reading articles from trusted news sources, and taking a general “pulse” on social media, this election is different. I think most of us feel it and trust this to be true. The question for many of us, including, or especially, Christian leaders, is whether we normalize the behavior and policies of the new president, or choose another path. Jim Wallice has been a leader in Christian social witness for many years and he has written a wonderful article about this.
